So many scholars make
a lot of common mistakes while making a thesis or a dissertation.
Here are few of them you should not commit while making your own
projects.
- Do not make the
Parts, Sections or Chapters of a thesis according to your own
ideas. Every thesis must be divided into the different sections,

- Do not Use Complex Language (Except in case of the technical
subjects like science and technology or computers.
- Do not Use Pictures in the thesis like the picture of a person.
Because it will put an adverse effect on your reputation at
university as the use of pictures will seem to increase the page
length. But you can use the pictures of websites etc. to show the
data. The use of table, diagrams etc may also be there.
- Do not make the mistakes regarding spellings and grammar. Even A
good thesis may look unimpressive if having the spellings and
grammar mistakes. Check the spellings and grammar before you
printout the thesis.
- Do not make the whole thesis at your own. Consult Guide or the
Supervisor from time to time to show the progress of work. Also
consult the guide regarding methods to collect the data, to get
suggestions regarding analysis of data and composing etc. of
thesis.
- Do not use the page size and the margins etc. other than
mentioned by the university. The usual page size is 8-1/2 X 11
with Double space and Font size 12. Ignoring the standards
specified by the university may lead to the rejection of your
thesis. So be careful while composing.
Do not include the articles, statement or the source of
information etc. as it is. If you want to use it then the
permission of the publisher is required. Also mention the source
in the thesis from where the information was taken. When you show
the sources of information it is called “Citations”
- Do not use the fast colors in the thesis in case you are going
to take a colored printout.
Use of fast colors may irritate or distract the readers of your
thesis and it will look unimpressive. You should avoid making your
thesis stylish because a thesis is an output of a research so it
should be a simple one.
- Do not go beyond the topic or far from the topic. So many
scholars in case of lack of data or the information try to make
the thesis long and use the data which is not related to the topic
of thesis.
- Do not forget writing bibliography. Most of the readers use the
citations and do not make the part “Bibliography”. Bibliography
part is used to show all the sources which were used while making
a thesis. It must be included at the end of the thesis.
- Do not print the research report without any type of proof
reading. Proof reading is done to modify and correct all types of
the mistakes which may creep in while composing of a thesis. So it
is better to have a proof reading before a final printout.
- Do not let your thesis to become dirty and unclear. A very good
thesis with wonderful matter will not look impressive if the paper
has become dirty. So avoid using dirty paper and use the white and
clear paper only while printing.
- Do not make a cheap binding of your thesis. A cheap binding will
lead to dirty look of your thesis. We spend a lot while making a
thesis then a little bit on binding can make your thesis good
looking.
